Spring 2024 Semester Wrap-Up
May 14, 2024
As the spring semester ends, the Workday Student project workstreams continue to make significant progress implementing the new Workday functionality. These teams are finishing work on a fourth testing cycle and have been working on thousands of conversions of student, course and other institutional data. Work is ongoing to verify the data, determine security access and ensure that the processes that support students, faculty and staff are in place. Reporting and integrations to other University systems is also a key component of the implementation and this work is on track.
As a result, the team will launch the first release of Workday Student functionality
into the current Workday tenant in early August. Affectionately known as the first
Move to Production (MTP1), foundational student information will be available for
the Admissions and Financial Aid staff.  Additional access and data will be available
for the Registrar’s office in early October.  No student or course enrollment data
will migrate to Workday at this time.
To assist with the changes, the Workday Student team has created a change network.
The network includes members from each project workstream and a diverse representation
of individuals from the advising and departmental administrator communities.  Over
time, the network will be expanded to include representation from other campus groups.

As these team members have learned more about Workday Student, they have been critical
to flagging terms that may create confusion for campus users. The result of their
efforts is a new glossary of terms. The network has also identified key issues impacting role assignments and security.
Most recently, they have been reviewing test scenarios and will assist with testing
aspects of the advising and department administration activities.

Role specific training will begin in July and will continue through the fall.  Learning
journeys are being created for use by faculty, staff and students.  To see an updated
timeline and more resource materials, please visit the Workday Student training information site.
We will keep you updated on progress over the summer and our plans for the fall and
early winter. For additional questions, please contact workdaystudent@lsu.edu.
