What is Film & Television?

A Major in Film & Television is designed as a preprofessional degree program for students interested in entering the film and television industry upon graduation. This program will allow you to explore various aspects of the production process including Directing, Screenwriting, and Cinematography.

Training with Faculty and Industry Guests Our faculty members have extensive experience creating narrative and documentary films. Students also have opportunities to learn from and work with film professionals from across the country.
Hands-On Learning Students gain practical experience by creating their own films and working with professionals in the field. The School also supports several student film projects each year through Geaux Films and Tiger Grants.
State-of-the-Art Equipment The School has an extensive film equipment inventory. Students gain experience working with the same types of equipment used throughout the film industry, giving them an advantage as they enter the job market.
Opportunities in the Film Industry Our students have many opportunities to work on professional film sets within Louisiana’s vibrant film industry. Graduates have also gone on to work in major film markets including New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
