Access Manager - Visual Impairment Specialist

My drive to work as the Vision Impairment Specialist and Access Case Manager is deeply rooted in my years of experience as a special education teacher within the public school system and at Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired. These roles have profoundly shaped my understanding of the unique challenges and barriers that visually impaired students face daily.

This experience has cultivated a deep sense of empathy and a strong commitment to advocate for these students, ensuring that they receive educational experiences that are as enriching and accessible as those of their peers. My work is fueled by the belief that all students, regardless of their physical capabilities, deserve to learn in an environment that recognizes their potential and respects their dignity.

Moving & Grooving

I am a member of the Streetcar Strutters, a dance group that participates in several parades throughout the Mardi Gras season. Each dancer in our krewe is named after a street that the New Orleans streetcar runs on; my krewe name is "Girod Street".

Feel the Vibrations

My favorite spot on campus is the full body massage chair at the UREC, especially after a workout. It's the perfect place to unwind and recuperate, offering a moment of relaxation and muscle relief that rejuvenates me for the rest of the day.

Babushka...

In sixth grade, I won the school spelling bee by spelling the word "babushka." "Babushka" is a Russian word meaning "grandmother" or an elderly woman. I remember the event was televised to all the classrooms and my dad was so proud of my win.
