CC&E's Kevin Stoner measures the percent cover of vegetation in the marsh, by species. Some of the most dominant species in this marsh are Typha domingensis, or the Southern Cattail, and Schoenoplectus americanus, or chairmaker's bullrush.

Marsh at a higher elevation floods less frequently and may become home to trees and shrubs not found in lower lying areas.
