Double-Corrected Monochromated Spectra 300 S/TEM

The Advanced Microscopy and Analytical Core is proud to showcase the Thermo Fisher Spectra 300 STEM, the most advanced microscope in Louisiana, made possible by a $10 million investment from the U.S. Army Research Office.

This powerful microscope allows scientists to see matter at the atomic level, opening the door to discoveries that impact everyday life—from new materials and medical advances to innovations that support national security. With this technology, LSU is helping shape the future of science and innovation in Louisiana and beyond.

Thermo Fisher HeliScan microCT Mark II

The HeliScan microCT is a powerful and versatile 3D imaging system that allows researchers to see inside objects without cutting or damaging them. Using advanced X-ray technology and innovative scanning paths—including a patented helical motion—it creates highly accurate three-dimensional images of samples of any shape or size.

Unlike traditional systems, HeliScan can scan tall samples in a single, continuous process, eliminating stitching artifacts and delivering consistent, high-quality images throughout the entire sample. This results in clear, low-noise data that faithfully captures a sample’s internal structure and is ready for precise measurement, segmentation, and analysis.
