
Biography
Laura Metcalf serves as Assistant Director of LSU Student Media and advisor to The Mag, LSU’s student-run lifestyle magazine. LSU Student Media operates in partnership with the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University. In her role, she leads general operations, revenue strategy, advertising sales, and marketing initiatives supporting LSU’s student media outlets. She joined Student Media as Advertising Manager in 2018 and was appointed Assistant Director in 2025. Throughout her time with Student Media, she has worked to strengthen advertising and revenue strategies while expanding opportunities for student leadership and professional development.
Before returning to her alma mater professionally, she built her career in magazine publishing and media sales in both Baton Rouge and Austin, Texas. She held roles with 225 Magazine, inRegister, Austin Monthly, and Austin Home, including serving as Senior Account Executive and Events Manager. In 2017, she was named Print Marketing and Promotions Staff Member of the Year by the Alliance for Women in Media Austin affiliate.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU and holds a Master of Liberal Arts from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas.
A proud LSU alumna, she enjoys supporting LSU athletics. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her husband, Jay, and their two daughters, Olivia and Elizabeth.
