About LSU A&M IT Centralization Initiative
What does ‘Centralization’ mean?
IT Centralization is a phased effort to streamline and unify IT support across campus. The goal is to improve service, reduce duplications, and better support the university’s long-term goals.
Collaboration = Success
Your IT Support, Now Centralized
“Service the same if not better” is our motto. To ensure the transition is seamless, we are taking a highly collaborative approach with Departments/Units to establish that IT needs are met across campus.
As with any change, there are bound to be bumps along the road. Please understand that at first things may look bumpy, but we will continue to refine the processes/procedures to provide the University with the best possible support!
Who’s leading the effort?
In addition to ITS Leadership and LSU Leadership, the following groups are actively involved in collaboration on the initiative:
Faculty Senate IT Subcommittee
Departmental IT Subcommittee
ITS Advisory Group and Portfolio Management Office (PMO)
How will we get there?
Coordinate a detailed IT inventory in partnership with all departments and units.
Work with departments and units to document and preserve their unique IT needs for research and support models.
Collaborate on the development and communication of a comprehensive transition plan, including clear timelines and key milestones.
Work toward a centralized IT structure with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths to support operational clarity.
Identify and recommend tools that enhance remote support, asset tracking, and knowledge management capabilities.
Prioritize business continuity and support stakeholder satisfaction throughout the transition process.
What is the Timeline?
ITS is taking a deliberate step-by-step approach. The goal is to have the process take approximately 12-18 months for initial transitions to complete. After the initial transition is complete, there will be continued collaboration between ITS and each Department/Unit to address feedback and adjust as necessary.
Project closure is not the end! ITS will continue to collaborate with each Department/Unit to ensure that they are receiving the support they need. There will be continuous efforts to enhance service delivery, communication, and/or support models to support adjusting IT support needs.
